Language Arts
Reading Accuracy/Fluency: We will be working on improving our accuracy and fluency. Strategies such as self-correcting, solving words using phonics and structural analysis, and the use of punctuation to read will be introduced.
Reading Comprehension: This quarter we will be focusing on summarizing, developing personal connections, asking questions, and identifying the main idea to help develop an understanding of what was read.
Writing: April is National Poetry Month. We will be looking at figures of speech and write various types of poems. We will then focus on paragraph writing.
Math
In Math this quarter, we will be focusing on representing algebraic expressions in multiple ways, as well as length, distance, time, and mass. We will also revisit multiplication and division for continued practice.
Social
Students are relating how an individual's quality of life is impacted by their accessibility to services this quarter. We are then examining and comparing the various goods, services, imports, exports, technologies, transportation methods, and ways of communication that people have in the four countries being studied.
Science
This quarter, students wrapped up a unit called Building with a Variety of Materials. They are now learning about Animal Life Cycles!
